Hidden in a haunted Victorian, attic, above a friendly cafe/bar in the heart of Leeds city centre, Strange Sugar Studios is here to bring your photographic fantasy to life. The creative workspace of Kirsty Garland and her ever expanding costume closet/cabinet of curiosities, this cosy studio is equipped with a variety of handcrafted sets, which combined with digital artistry, have the power to transport you into another world of your choosing.
Meet your photographer:
Hi, I'm Kirsty, and I've been a photographer for over 15 years now, working in everything from music and fashion, through to product and documentary. Having my own studio, that can be a safe and comfortable space away from the rest of the world is a dream come true for me, and I will do everything in my power to put you at your ease when we shoot.
Everyone is very welcome at Strange Studios, if there's anything you're concerned about please feel free to talk to me about it as the last thing I want is for anyone to feel uncomfortable. You are always welcome to bring a friend or significant other with you to put you at ease, and I always shoot at a leisurely pace, so if you need regular breaks etc that's totally fine. Unfortunately the studio is up several staircases - if you'd like to shoot with me but have accessibility needs talk to me and we can hopefully find an alternative location to work in.
There are no hard and fast rules about what I'll shoot - many of my regular clients are performers, models, expectant mothers, couples, and people simply wanting a pretty, sexy, or fantastical photograph for their own enjoyment.
I also shoot fashion, music, families, children, pets, and basically anything where the customer is after something a little out of the ordinary.
Whether you are coming to me with a fully formed idea, or simply the desire to create something, I'm sure we can make some magic.
The studio has various costume pieces/wigs/shoes/props etc that you are welcome to borrow - a lot of the lingerie sets I have are currently in and around my size (as they were bought for me to shoot in,) but I want to expand what I offer so I will happily source something similar in your size as long as you let me know in advance what you're looking for.
